獬豸乃上古神兽，自秦汉至魏晋南北朝起，用玉琢制此类神兽便十分盛行。〔后汉书·舆服志〕曰：獬豸，神兽也，辨曲直忠奸，每遇不忠之人，必以角触之。君王临朝断事，亦置獬豸为伴。本玉雕件即为传说中的神兽—獬豸，青白玉圆雕而成，造形饱满，玉质温润内敛，略带沁痕，呈蹲伏状，曲颈回望，双目远眺，眉梢上卷，神采奕奕；鼻端微翘，长髭飘逸，细弱游丝，与胸相连；背脊突兀，层层叠叠，排列划一，张弛有力。
