此摆件以整块和田玉圆雕而成，玉质油润细腻。童子呈蹲坐状，头梳双髻，面带笑容，手持一朵盛开的莲花，一派富足欢喜之态。身侧雕一小猫，杏眼尖耳，灵动可爱，抓人眼球。持荷童子造型最早出现在宋代，又称“磨喝乐”，后世历朝仍不断发展，造型逐渐丰富，是作用料考究，设计精妙，俏色得宜，造型生动，碾琢细致，是清代童子中的优秀作品。
