A STRAW GLAZED POTTERY FIGURE OF A SOLDIER, SUI TO TANG DYNASTYScientific Analysis Report: A thermoluminescence analysis report issued by Oxford Authentication on 26 July 2012, based on sample number C112g84, sets the firing date of two samples taken between 1000 and 1600 years ago. Well modeled standing upright with fists clenched as if to hold a standard, the face with well-defined features, eyes gazing ahead, a studded leather cap atop his head, wearing a short tunic and a breastplate with two roundels enclosing faces. Covered in a straw glaze with a greenish tint ending shortly above the base.Provenance: From an English private collection in the Peak District.Condition: Good condition with some wear, glaze flakes, expected firing flaws, small firing cracks, some touch- to the glaze, the weapon missing, and part of the base reattached.
