明代以前，屏风多趋于实用，被归为家具的一种，主要用于遮蔽和做临时隔断，大都是接地而设。至清初出现的插屏和挂屏，则开始兼有供人欣赏之用，而本拍品的珍惜之处即在于它不仅具有审美之能，而且材质殊特，屏面为紫砂胎，以紫砂堆塑山水人物之景。画面之中，虽寥寥数笔，却形以俱焉，人物闲逸之感，出世清雅之姿跃然于眼前，其一隅书“梅花书屋丙戌冬日写”，并署“杨 履乾”，杨履乾，约为康熙至乾隆年间人，传器极少，制器风格精致大度，善用泥绘装饰。史载其与杨履曾二人为宫廷制器。
