衮服圆领，对襟，平袖，直身式，缀铜鎏金錾花盘扣五枚。石青色服面，两肩及前后胸绣五爪正面金龙四团，两肩金龙用日月二章为饰，其章左日、右月。前胸后背金龙用万寿篆文。清代贝子之上皇族用圆补，镇国公以下官员皆饰方补，以寓「天圆地方」。两肩团龙中加绣日月章，亲王级别之下不可穿戴。依其形制，应为皇帝在祭祀等庄重场合所御衮服，与吉服相配，套于其外穿用。此服形制严谨，绣工精细，一丝不苟，显现出皇室的沉稳庄重的艺术效果。
