King of England, Scotland and Ireland. Letters Patent, granting 2,400 acres in seven towns and villages in Co. Waterford to Thomas Brightwell, gentleman. Dated: Dublin, 30 May 1667. Decorative letters patent granting lands in Co. Waterford to Thomas Brightwell, merchant. The grant is issued on the advice of James, Duke of Ormond, Lieutenant General and Governor General of Ireland. In English. On vellum, two conjoined membranes, 737 x 711 mm, hand-coloured engraved initial letter ‘C’ in a panel 280 x 229 mm containing a portrait of Charles II, 139 x 117 mm and decorative upper border featuring heraldic beasts, the Royal coat of arms and other devices including two painted butterflies and a dragonfly, first line with illuminated engraved ornamental capitals, red and white plaited lace cords attaching the Great Seal of Ireland. The Great Seal isplete with its tin skippet and it and the Letters Patent are apanied by the original tin case,plete with brass padlock. (Lot 261)
