本品撇口，直颈，圆弧腹及底内收，下承圈足。通体施茄皮紫釉，釉面厚润柔和，釉色凝重深邃，苍雅静穆，极富天然韵致。
清张九钺《南窑笔记》载“铅粉，石末，入青料则成紫色。”茄皮紫釉初创于明代中期，是一种以锰为主要着色剂的单色釉瓷器。至清代康熙时期，茄皮紫釉得以复烧，雍、乾二朝，已臻于成熟。茄皮紫釉在清代单色釉中属于极为名贵稀有的品种，盖因烧造难度较大，成品多精，观赏性极强，为清代单色釉瓷器中赏玩之上品。而在茄皮紫釉瓷器中，赏瓶一类，存世甚罕，颇值珍视。
