本品取长竹一截，覆瓦状，包浆润泽，表里如一。阴刻山水、人物，远山近水，亭台楼阁，层次分明，非高手莫办。
少溪，清乾隆时期嘉定派竹雕高手，善用高浮雕和线雕的技法，把山水、人物画的笔意融合入竹刻之中。其取法顾珏，又采周颢之所长，所制竹器无不精妙，在其传世作品中可见其面貌。本品即为少溪所制之佳作。
