A CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL ‘DRAGON’ BOWL, c. 1920sChina, late Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) to Republic period (1912-1949). The compressed rounded walls rising from a ring foot to a lipped rim, the interior decorated with a fierce five-clawed dragon writhing around a flaming pearl, the sides with two sinuous dragons also chasing a flaming pearl, with a ruyi border below the mouth rim and a wave border above the foot, all against a black ground with scrolling clouds. Condition: Very good condition with minor wear and manufacturing irregularities such as pitting. Provenance: Estate of an Austrian collector, the collection was assembled in the 1980s – 1990s through purchases at Galerie Zacke and other specialized galleries in Vienna.
