A LARGE PINK MARBLE HEAD OF GUANYIN, QING DYNASTY
China, 1644-1912. Wearing an ornate tiara with a central floral medallion tied with knotted streamers which hang from both sides, this head is masterfully carved with a serene facial expression set with a full face, heavy lidded downcast eyes with a thin nose above pursed lips. The hair is boldly incised, with curls and parts, tied in a high curling topknot. The impressive pink marble has fine black speckles and some white inclusions.


Provenance:
French trade. Acquired from an old private family estate.

Condition:
Good condition with wear, signs of weathering and erosion, small chips, old wear, and minute nicks. The stone with natural inclusions and fissures, some of which have developed into small cracks. Solid, naturally grown patina overall. Displaying remarkably well.

清代大理石觀音頭像

中國，1644-1912年。菩薩頭戴精美華麗的花蔓冠，線條刻劃細膩，葉瓣上雕刻波浪狀的邊緣和樹葉紋飾。菩薩臉型長圓，耳朵豐滿長垂，五官分布舒朗，眼窩平淺，眉線曲如半圓長弧，眼皮厚重，眼睛細長波折，鼻樑豐挺，兩翼稍寬，鼻頭圓潤，嘴唇潤澤飽滿，神情安詳。大理石有細小的黑色斑點和白色内沁。

法國貿易，購自一處私人家族舊藏。

品相：
狀況良好，有磨損、風化和侵蝕、小缺口、舊磨損和微小刻痕。具有天然内沁和裂隙，有的已發展成細小的裂紋。 整體呈堅固、自然生長的包漿。
