A GRAY SANDSTONE TORSO OF A MALE DEITY, ANGKOR PERIOD, BAPHUON STYLE
Khmer Empire, 11th century. Finely carved standing in samabhanga, the sculpture sensitively modeled wearing a finely delineated high-waisted sampot, tied at the front below the navel with the folds splayed across the left thigh and secured at the front and back with a belt.


Provenance:
French trade.

Condition:
Good condition, commensurate with age, and presenting well. Extensive wear, losses, signs of weathering and erosion, nicks, scratches, few structural cracks, old repairs.

Dimensions: Height 41 cm (excl. stand) and 49 cm (incl. stand)
