提要：呤唎（1840-1873），原名Augustus Frederick Lindley，英国海军军官。于清咸丰十年(1860)至同治三年(1864)在李秀成部任职，为其训练军队，先后率炮队作战，教练太平军操演，为太平天国采购武器和粮食。1864年太平天国起义失败后回国。 拍品为其回国后撰成，作者以亲身经历歌颂太平军在苏南的战斗，抨击清政府及英国侵略者。对太平军作战、阵法、婚姻、税收、法庭等方面以及太平天国领袖和士兵的生活等都有记述。史料丰富,收录英国官方文书,兼与亲历见闻印证。 拍品拼皮精装2册全，封面封底断裂，内收插图29幅，其中石印插图21幅，部分为彩印。
