明镜素以铸造精良、品质上乘而声名远播，且不以实用为主而渐成工艺品。官宦宅府中堂多摆花瓶与铜镜，取阖家万事皆顺之意，多为黄铜质。此镜工艺精巧，纹饰华美，鏨刻精良，应为明廷御用间所造供宫廷内苑把玩，镜呈方形，厚重且尺寸较大实为罕见，上有铭文“曹植之章，琵琶何待，石崇之困，皺水梦回”，比喻黄粱万事皆空，应珍惜当前时光。
