|砚侧阳文：永昌元年八月廿日作，上端饰鱼纹，钱文，几何纹。另侧饰鬼脸纹。|提要：考：永昌为东晋元帝司马睿之第三纪年，共计2年。即公元322年，年初，王敦因与朝廷不合而举兵，攻占石头城，飞扬跋扈，专权擅政，帝无力回天，于同年闰十一月初十司马睿忧愤病逝于建康宫内殿，年四十七岁。葬于建平陵，庙号中宗。其年闰十月，晋明帝即位沿用，永昌二年三月改元太宁元年。|案：砚以整砖斫之，该砚澄泥炼之，质地细腻包浆古雅，浅磨砚堂，砚面精心雕琢如意宝瓶，以瓶身作为墨池，上端插有灵芝，寓意平安如意，宜磨宜研，包浆温润，精心刻勒，置于案头斑驳古意，朴茂有致，颇为雅逸矣。|说明：附一朱一墨拓片。
