5 Japanese Tea Ceremony Tea Bowls Chawan; the first in white porcelain with a Song Jizhou-Type dark brown glaze, a blue painted landscape on a bowl with an impressed circular mark to base, a bowl with black leaves and 3 Tokugawa Mons in Kyoto style blue enamel, a Karatsu Style teabowl in box with gift card from Torazo Ninagawa, Governor of Kyoto Prefecture (1950-1978), and a small tea bowl with impressed leaves and mark to base, the inside with crackle white enamel. The first in good condition, the second with burst glaze bubbles and a hair line, the third and fourth in good condition, the fifth with a chip and very tiny glaze frits to mouth rim. Diameter of first 4 7/8 inches (12.2 cm.). PROVENANCE: Purchased at PB84, a subsidiary of Sotheby Parke Bernet in the early 1980's.
