文房为清雅之场所，文房用具亦多雅致有趣，如作书画时需笔舔，使所蘸之墨色均匀，避免发生浓淡不均的现象。清宫所藏笔舔较少，皆为乾隆年间所制，精巧优美，可供赏玩。此件笔舔体量不大，入手轻盈，而雕琢极其工细。器取材竹根，精雕细琢，呈葡萄叶状，回曲起伏，圆润饱满，肌理分明，造型极为写实。内外壁均雕琢葡萄，圆润可爱。匠师技法高超，果叶的弯曲翻转、抱合开启无不逼真，线条流畅，整体工艺细腻，技法精湛，寓「多子多福」之意，为少见的竹雕巧作精品。
