Federal mahogany tall case clock, John Whitehead (1791-1875), Haddonfield, NJ, circa 1825. H: 97 3/4 in. PROVENANCE: According to Thomas Smith Hopkins and Walter Scott Cox (compilers), "Colonial Furniture of West New Jersey," (1936), this clock belonged to Joseph Kay until 1830 when it passed to his son, Joseph F. Kay, who died in 1894, and subsequently to his brother, George Kay, of Haddonfield, NJ., who died in 1899 , thence to his daughters Mary Graysbury Kay and Anna Rowland Kay of Haddonfield who owned the clock in 1936.
