Chippendale carved mahogany looking glass. Bearing label for John Elliott, Sr. (1713-1791), Philadelphia, PA, late 18th century. 48 in. x 25 in. PROVENANCE: According to Thomas Smith Hopkins and Walter Scott Cox (compilers), "Colonial Furniture of West New Jersey," (1936), this mirror was owned by John Gill II, of Tavistock and later Haddonfield, New Jersey, and thence by descent to Ephraim Tomlinson Gill of Haddonfield, owner in 1936.
