阿难尊者又称阿难陀，王舍城人，佛陀的堂弟，也是他的侍者。是佛陀释迦牟尼十大弟子中的一位，被称为多闻第一。他在佛陀死后阿罗汉果，曾经参与第一次集结。据说他继承摩诃迦叶之后，成为僧团的领导者。阿难尊者脚踏莲花宝座之上，身穿袈裟，衣襟以缠枝花卉纹装饰，法相庄严肃穆。面庞清秀，双目微闭，鼻粱高挺，嘴含微笑，双手合十，神态慈祥，富有极强的感染力。衣襟缠枝花卉纹流畅犀利，工艺精细，为明代佛像艺术品之佳作，不为多见。
