这件竹雕罗汉像尺寸精巧，采用圆雕工艺，琢一罗汉着敞襟长衫，侧首屈身而坐，一手执念珠搭于左膝之上，一手撑于身后，右膝上卧一只小狮。整体雕工老道，刀口圆滑，包浆莹润，尤其是摆件底部亦有装饰，此作为数不多。此类笑狮罗汉题材的竹刻作品，在清代宫廷中也可见相似者。今北京故宫博物院藏，竹雕笑狮罗汉（参见《故宫经典——故宫竹木牙角图典》第21页），即可与本品比较。其罗汉手执念珠，膝上卧小狮的形象，与本品颇有相似之处。本件罗汉胡貌梵像，较之更有与元明十八罗汉图相似的画意。
