AN OLD AGATE INTAGLIO SEAL IN RING SETTING Burma/ Myanmar region, presumably Pyu city states (200-1000 AD) or later. The ring with a modern silvered setting with carved, ornamental decoration to the sides, the ring top bearing the intaglio seal of ancient character cut from a milky-white agate. Condition: Good condition with some expected, age-related wear and small notches. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik Istvan Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. Istvan Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
