A PYU ROCK CRYSTAL TALISMAN OF A TIGER WITH CUB IN ITS MOUTH Burma/ Myanmar, Pyu city states (200-1000 CE). The translucent stone of good clarity with some natural inclusions, finely carved as a tiger with a cub in its mouth, a rare depiction. Large piercing through the collar and back side allowing for suspension as a pendant. The holes are handmade, irregular, funnel-shaped, the use of an iron needle is apparent due to the transparency of the stone, the holes having been made from both sides. Condition: Good condition with minor traces of age and flaws to the surface as well as some natural age cracks. The tip of the tail is broken off. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik Istvan Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above.
