TWO GLASS PRAYERS BEADS WITH ISLAMIC INSCRIPTIONS Middle East region, 20th century. Of oval and flattened shape, with Islamic inscriptions from the Coran in tholoth calligraphy, which reads 'surat al baqara, ayat al kursy' to one side. Glass imitating an agate stone of a nice, warm-brownish tone. Condition: Good condition with expected wear and few small chips along the margin. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik Istvan Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. Istvan Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
