A figure of the Virgin seated on a simple throne, designed for a frontal and slightly lowered viewpoint and placed upon an angular plinth. She holds the nude figure of the Christ Child with Her right hand on Her right knee. This figure, with its block like but varied rendering and strong presence is thought to originate from Friaul in Northern Italy. With remains of older polychromy and partial gilding, the faces repainted Condition Report Right forearm and feet of the Child, left hand of the Virgin and hem of the garment undernearth lost.
