Chinese Art A pottery Hare fur teacup China, Qing dynasty or earlier . . Cm 12,00 x 6,50. Hemispherical cup covered with thick brown glaze that leaves the lower part uncovered characterized by the short circular foot. The glaze has been made similar to the fur of a hare which is typical of a specific manufacture of the Song and Jin era, known as Jian Yao, produced in the ovens with the same name in the Fujian province. This type of cups were expressly produced for the tea ceremony, as Cai Xiang narrates in his Cha Lu (chronicles of tea) which specifies how the "hare hair" cups were with no doubts "the best".
