卷缸口沿内敛，深腹，平底内凹，造型敦厚。器身通体绘青花荷塘鸳鸯图案，数茎荷花在池塘中摇曳，或高耸或低垂，荷叶亭亭如盖，荷花绽放似霞，鸳鸯嬉游荷塘之中，一派生机盎然的景色。荷塘鸳鸯是瓷器中的经典题材，古人视鸳鸯为爱情的象征，《古今注》说鸳鸯为“鸟类，雌雄未尝相离，人得其一，则一必思而死，故曰匹鸟”。瓷器装饰中的鸳鸯皆成双成对，且多与莲池相配，故称鸳鸯戏莲纹、鸳鸯卧莲纹、荷塘鸳鸯纹等。因寓意美好、图案喜闻乐见而为世人喜爱。
