Copper Red-glazed Water PotChina, Kangxi-style, apple-form, resting on a bisque foot ring, the red glaze running over the green body mottled with copper-red speckles, a leaf mark in underglaze blue on base, ht. 2 1/2 in. Provenance: A family heirloom collection mostly formed in the 1900-20s by Dr. Frederick Whiting (1821-1946). Dr. Whiting was a philanthropic otologist/professor of Clinical Surgery in Otology at Cornell University who authored the book, Modern Mastoid Operation. He was also known as a collector of American painting, medallic art, and Asian porcelain.
