A walnut cassone, 17th century, Italian, with a richly-carved front panel depicting half-human figures and lions, an ironwork lock with key, on boldly carved lion paw feet, 165cm wide 57cm deep 57cm high Condition report: Top looks to have been cleaned and has expected marks, but none detrimental. The front is dark with old wax and the front right hand door has losses probably due to old worm, which is evident in the baseboards. Baseboard appears quite sound from inside, there has been extensive woodworm (see images), most appears dead, although badly damaged areas along back of base.
