After Guido Reni (Italian, 1575-1642) L'Aurora oil on canvas laid down on board 50 x 112cm Reni's original composition 'L'Aurora' is in the Casino, or garden house, adjacent to the Palazzo Pallavicini-Rospigliosi, in Rome. The work is considered Reni's fresco masterpiece. Condition report: Oil on canvas which has been laid onto a piece of modern hardboard. It appears that the original stretcher has been retained with the original tacking edges still attached. There are minor undulations in the canvas caused by poor adhesion to the board, At the lower left corner, in the red drapery, is a large repair, possibly an insert patch. This area is raised and uneven. Other areas of overpaint are discoloured and no longer match the original. There is a scratch with paint loss at the lower centre edge. The varnish is dull and slightly yellowed. There is a layer of surface dirt present including white drips across the surface.
