Stephen Lewin (fl.1880-1910) The Conversation signed 'S Lewin' and dated 1904 l.r., oil on canvas 61 x 82cm Condition report: Oil on canvas which have been lined. The picture is in plane and the canvas tension is very stiff. The paint layer is in a good, stable condition overall. Small areas of retouching are scattered across the surface and are fairly well matched to the original. The varnish is even and semi-glossy but slightly yellowed. There is abrasion around the edges of the painting caused by framing and some light scuffs. The painting has a layer of surface dirt including fly spots.
