This antique 18th century Continental polychrome 9.5" diameter plate features Imari influenced floral decoration executed in shades of iron red and blue with yellow accents. There is a large cluster of blossoms with curvilinear stems at the center bordered along the rounded well by a diaper trellis pattern interspersed with flowers. The shoulder of the plate bears four large floral and foliate groupings edged with a blue band. The plate is finished with a brown rim. The plate is in very good condition with no cracks or repairs. As an antique, the plate shows appropriate signs of age consisting of chips to the rim, the largest of which can be seen at the lower right corner in photo 8. The piece measures 9.5" in diameter and the rim stands 1.25" from the surface on which it is displayed. The glazed foot is not signed and has production related stilt marks from the kiln. The piece weighs in at just over 13oz. This charming antique hand painted tin glazed dish displays beautifully and would be a fantastic addition to a collection of antique Delftware, or works equally well as a stand alone decorative accent. A terrific find!
