A beautiful set of four white pottery column candlesticks by Imperial Spode from 1890. This set was previously used by President Franklin D. Roosevelt and his wife Eleanor. This set was sold in the former Presidents' estate auction in 1951, three of the four candlesticks maintain the original estate authentication stickers to the undersides. One identifying the lot number 972. The original auction catalogue from FDR's estate auction is included. Lot 972 in the catalogue is identified as "4 Spode white pottery column candlesticks". There is a registration mark on the base included in the printed back stamp, Rd.N. 900067. This refers to a registration date of 11th April 1890. The set was originally retailed by Thomas Goode in London. Measures Approx., 3.5" diameter x 8.5" height Condition: Fair. Extensive surface age related crazing throughout, 3 of the 4 with chips to the top edge, all with age related hairlines to the tops. Structurally solid, presenting very well for a rare group of Presidential owned candlesticks.
